FORTEZZA MONTE ALTURA
At the end of 1800 the coast of northeast Sardinia facing the Archipelago of La Maddalena is occupied by a series of military fortifications which, together with those located on islands, would be crucial both in anti-French, both in the wider arena the western Mediterranean. Over the years known as those of the fortifications, situated on the territory of Palau three major military batteries: the battery of Monte Altura, battery Capo d'Orso and battery Baragge.
The battery of Monte Altura, located northwest of Palau, in a huge panoramic view, is easily accessible by road to Porto Raphael. From above, with sweeping views of the surrounding islands to Corsica. The work, in excellent condition, is just across the road that leads to Punta Sardegna and is open to guided tours during the summer for concerts and cultural events.
Only tour.
Visits inside the Fortress, for the safety of visitors are guided exclusively. The tour party to 15 minutes of every hour of the opening hours indicated. The visit lasts approximately 45 minutes.
