Badesi (in Gallurese Badèsi) is a Municipality of 1,853 inhabitants. The village, situated on the last declivities of Gallura hills, slopes down softly and overlooks the plain below and the Western part of Asinara Gulf.

In this territory, the hill zone is a granite formation, on the contrary the coastal area presents a lot of sandy shores. On the plain lapping the bank of River Coghinas there is a rich alluvial soil.

Badesi is a young village: it arose probably in 1700, after that some families related to one another settled here; today’s village families that have the same surname in common descend from them. Its recent history is characterized by a rapid development that made this Municipality independent from Aggius in 1969.

Its economy is mainly based on agriculture, practiced in the valley of the River Coghinas with a very rich production of crops, above all tomatoes and artichokes. Grape and wine growing practiced by local producers is important, too.

What’s more, during the last few years Badesi’s economy has been positively influenced by tourism development, encouraged by natural beauties (worth mentioning are Baia delle Mimose with the River Coghinas outlet and Monte Mannu covered with ilex, oaks and Macchia Mediterranea shrubs), by a magnificent 8 Km long sand beach and by the vicinity of other renowned tourist resorts such as Santa Teresa di Gallura and Castelsardo.

The territory is full of Roman attestations while the oldest building is the church of Sacro Cuore, built around the end of the XIX century.
